Weir Island
Stonington, Maine
A small state-owned island just off Sand Beach in Stonington, accessible by kayak. It's on the Maine Island Trail and has a campsite — a good overnight spot if you're paddling the area. Clear views of the Deer Isle Thorofare Lighthouse on Mark Island. Jill Hoy painted it; locals kayak to it for picnics and beachcombing.
