Eagle Island Lighthouse
Deer Isle, Maine
A classic early Maine lighthouse on Eagle Island in East Penobscot Bay, first lit in 1837. Not open to drop-in visitors — you need an invitation or to go by boat — but Eagle Light Caretakers hold an annual open house in August (typically August 10–11, 12–3 PM) where you can climb the tower. Worth catching if you're around.
